Coach Shannon
Head Coach Shannon Houlihan
The 2012-13 season will be Shannon Houlihan's first season as the head cross country and track & field coach at St. Catherine University. Houlihan spent the past two seasons serving as an assistant coach with the Wildcats, coaching the sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers.  During that time the Wildcats set five school records in the sprint events and had five All-Conference performers and one conference champion

Prior to joining the Wildcats, Houlihan spent two seasons as an assistant track and field coach at Smith College in Massachusetts.  She was the event coach for the sprints, hurdles and jumps.  While at Smith, Houlihan also earned a Master of Science in Exercise & Sport Studies.

Prior to her stint at Smith, Houlihan was an assistant track & field coach at Williams College in Massachusetts. As the jumps coach at Williams, she was a part of the of 2007 NCAA Women's Indoor National Championship team and coached four NESCAC Individual Champions and three NCAA All-Americans.

Houlihan's coaching career began in Pennsylvania where she had stints as an assistant coach at Washing & Jefferson College (2005-06) and Lafayette College (2004-05). Combined at both places Houlihan worked with five conference event champions and four national qualifiers.

Houlihan graduated from Oberlin College in 2004 with a degree in Art History.  While at Oberlin, she was a two-time national qualifier in the triple jump and
was captain of the track & field hockey teams.   

Assistant Coach Bryan Tolcser
Bryan Tolcser is entering his eighth season coaching the throwers for the St. Kate's track and field team. During the 2011-12 season, Tolcser coached Jamie Kelly to All-Conference honors in the shot put both indoor and outdoor, including a runner-up finish at the outdoor MIAC meet. Tolcser also coached Steph Meschke to a new school record in the javelin in 2012.  Since Tolcser joined the St. Kate's staff, the throws group has set four school records, posted three NCAA qualifying marks, and picked up numerous All-Conference honors. 

Bryan graduated from St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, with a B.S. in Biology and Environmental Studies. Bryan also completed graduate work at the University of Minnesota with a M.S. in Water Resources Science. At St. Lawrence, he was a four time NCAA qualifier in the weight and hammer throws and earned All-American honors in the weight throw.
Tolcser has continued to train as a post-collegiate athlete and recently placed 4th at the in the 35-lb Weight Throw at the 2012 U.S. Indoor National Championships. He owns PR's of 22.03m (72' 3.5") in weight and 66.77m (219' 1") in hammer.

Bryan lives in St. Paul and works as a natural resources scientist for Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc., a consulting engineering company.

Michelle
Assistant Coach Michelle Legatt
Legatt coaches the pole vault for the Wildcats.  The 2012-13 season will be her third with the team. Legatt has coached one All-Conference performer, one All-Conference Honorable Mention, and the indoor school record holder at St. Kate's.  A graduate of Arkansas State University, Legatt vaulted under renowned coach Earl Bell and set the ASU school record in the pole vault. Her personal best in the vault is 4.10m (13' 5").  Before coming to St. Kate's, she coached vault at Park Cottage Grove High School.  Legatt also works as a chemist at 3M.
