SUMMER SWIM 2010
Welcome to the Butler Center Pool! We need all parents/guardians and instructors to work together to make this swim experience the best for your child. Please observe the following:
· Parking permits are not required but we do ask that you park in the O’Shaughnessy lot. This is the big lot located at the entrance off of Fairview. Cars without permits parked in other lots will take the risk of being ticketed.
· Students should go to the bathroom before class. All swimmers must be potty trained. We are required to shut the pool down immediately when we find feces in the pool. And may need to close the pool for a minimum of 24 hours. Students can be brought to the bathroom at anytime during the lesson.
· Everyone must shower before entering the pool.
· No boys over age 4 in the women’s locker room. No girls over age 4 in the men’s locker room (this includes moms!).
· No children are allowed in the women’s faculty/staff locker room.
· Parents/guardians are not allowed on the pool deck or allowed to talk to swimmers during lesson times. You may observe classes from the observation deck. We ask all parents to follow this rule because it helps your child concentrate on his or her lesson and ensures that the instructor has the full attention of their students.
· Please help us keep Butler Center clean by discarding your trash.
· We understand that you may bring other children with you who are not taking lessons, please remember to watch all children and make sure they stay with you at all times. Do not allow children to play on the observatory bleachers.
· Summer swimmers are only allowed access to the pool and locker rooms. Visitors are not allowed to use the gym, cardio area or weight room.
· It is important to remember that it often takes a student two or more sessions to get to the next level. Do not be discouraged if your child does not pass a class the first time. Please continue to be supportive and encourage your child to continue taking swimming lessons even if they do not pass the current level.
· If all students in a class have completed their current level’s requirements, the instructor may start to introduce some skills that will be offered in the next level but only if the entire class is ready.
· We do not offer any make up days for any reason.
· Our class times run according to the pool deck clock.
· Please notify the swim director if we need to know of a health concern.
· If lessons were cancelled, you can check the Butler Center front desk at 651-690-8777 for up-to-date information.
If you have any questions or concerns, please address them to Nicole Hempler, Aquatics Director, at 651-690-8774. We ask that you bring all concerns to Nicole and she will discuss them with the instructors.
