The Wildcats are now 13-0 this season and continue to gain national attention for their impressive start. St. Kate's climbed up the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Rankings again this week, moving up two spots as the No. 18 ranked team in nation.
Last week, the Wildcats received 38 votes total to be tied with Rowan College at the No. 20 spot. This week, St. Kate's nearly doubled their vote total after an impressive trip to the National Training Center (NTC) Spring Games in Clermont, Florida. The Wildcats received 68 total votes in the lasted poll to move up two spots and remain tied with the Owls in the rankings.
One St. Kate's pitcher also received national recognition for her spectacular play during the team's spring trip.
Krista Flugstad (Bloomington, Minn. / Jefferson) was nominated as Division III Softball's HERO of the Week after earning a 2-1 complete game victory over Fontbonne University last week. The sophomore ace struck out a season high 13 batters in the win, giving up just one run on five hits in seven complete innings of work.
