After leading the St. Catherine University tennis team to a 10-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) record and the first conference championship in program history, the post season honors continue for Head Coach
Ben Hageseth as he was named the Division III Central Region Coach of the Year, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced Monday.
The honor comes after Hageseth was named the MIAC Women's Tennis Coach-of-the-Year for the second straight season. Under his direction, the Wildcats entered the MIAC playoffs as the No. 1 seed and ranked No. 30 in the nation. The Wildcats were also the top-ranked MIAC team throughout the entire spring at as high as No. 6 in the region.
Hageseth helped the Wildcats to a 15-1 overall record and coached four players to All-MIAC honors, including
Victoria Bravo (Tucson, Ariz.) who was tabbed the ITA Central Region Player to Watch. Bravo finished the MIAC season 10-0 at No. 1 singles and 9-1 in doubles. She lost just twice all season in non-conference singles players to two of the top players in the West Region. In her first season as a Wildcat, Bravo was the top-ranked MIAC player in the regional rankings throughout the regular season.
