After the St. Catherine tennis team rebounded from its only loss of the season with an impressive 7-2 win over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Tuesday, the team topped off its spring break trip with a clean 9-0 sweep of Southwestern University and improved to 11-1 on the season Wednesday in Georgetown, Texas.

With the win, the Wildcats defeated two Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) West Region ranked opponents on their spring break trip. Southwestern was ranked No. 20 in the West in the latest poll.

The Wildcats got back on track in doubles play with three wins including a perfect 8-0 score at the No. 1 position from new pair Victoria Bravo (Tucson, Ariz.) and Michaela Burroughs (Waterloo, Neb.) over Aimee Blake and Elizabeth Ellis.

In singles play, Bravo got back to her winning ways after suffering two-straight losses. She handed Blake a 6-0, 6-3 setback at the No. 1 spot.

Maria Koval (Green Bay, Wis.) picked up her second-straight 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 3 spot, while her doubles partner Angie Lorenzen (Mitchell, S.D.) defeated Marieke Visser with a convincing 6-0, 6-3 score.

Burroughs defeated Hunt 7-5, 6-1 at the No. 2 position, while Mikinzee Salo (Brainerd, Minn.) had another strong performance at the No. 6 spot with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Southwestern's Sarah Johnson.

The Wildcats will take a few weeks off of competition before returning to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play against Concordia College on April 13 at 4 p.m. at St. Catherine University.
