The St. Catherine University tennis team continued its hot start to the 2013 season with a big 8-1 win over Minnesota State University-Mankato Saturday evening at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
 
The Wildcats dominated the competition in doubles play with a 3-0 sweep of the Mavericks. Angie Lorenzen (Mitchell, S.D.) and Mikinzee Salo (Brainerd, Minn.) took out the opposition in perfect 8-0 fashion at the No. 3 spot.
 
Senior Michaela Burroughs (Waterloo, Neb.) was remarkable at the No. 2 single spot as she dropped just one game in her 6-0, 6-1 defeat of the Mavericks' Kelly Lechowski.
 
Victoria Bravo (Tucson, Ariz.) turned in a great performance at No. 1 singles, taking out Brandi Dohmen 6-2, 6-0, while Salo beat Alexis Haakedahl at the No. 6 spot with 6-2, 6-3 set wins.
 
After an impressive weekend in two matches last weekend, sophomore Maria Koval (Green Bay, Wis.) continued her dominance at the No. 3 singles position in her 6-2, 6-4 takedown of the Mavericks' Sarah McCann.
 
The Wildcats return to conference action next Friday as they will take on a good Bethel University squad beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
