2012-13 Roster
After making the 2012 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) playoffs and having four players earn All-Conference honors, the St. Catherine University tennis team is excited to begin its fall campaign this weekend against tough competition at the University of Minnesota Invitational, Sept. 14-16.
“We are extremely excited for this weekend,” said Head Coach
Ben Hageseth, who was named MIAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year last spring.
“It is an incredible opportunity to be able to compete against some top-level Division I teams and will be a great test to see exactly where our games are at and to show how talented the team has become.”
The Wildcats hope to display the talents of some of their top-returning players from a successful spring campaign. Among those players is sophomore
Maria Koval (Green Bay, Wis.) who earned All-MIAC honors in both singles and doubles play.
Also returning for the Wildcats are tow All-MIAC doubles picks –
Angie Lorenzen (Mitchell, S.D.) and
Michaela Burroughs (Waaterloo, Neb.).
The fall portion of the 2012-13 season features non-conference play and the Wildcats are taking full-advantage of this time to test out their strength as a team. Participating teams in this weekend's tournament include Air Force, Eastern Michigan, Gustavus, Iowa, Minnesota, Northern Iowa and UW-Milwaukee.
Competition will be organized in three flights with 16 players in each flight.
Parking on Saturday will be limited due to the Gopher Football game at TCF Bank Stadium. Event parking will only be available at the East River Road Garage at a cost of $10. All lots will be open for Friday and Sunday events.
