Golf competes at Eau Claire

The Wildcat golf team returned home Sunday evening excited to have their first tournament in the books and to see how they stacked up against college competition.  With every golfer competing in their first collegiate match, the Wildcats notched a nineteenth place team finish and were right with several MIAC teams.  The Wildcats finished ahead of Macalester and were one stroke behind St. Mary's.

Head Coach Kris Wessinger was pleased with the results of the weekend.  "We saw a lot of positives out there.  This was a tough course and the wind on Sunday slowed down play, but the team handled themselves really well for their first college tournament.  It was great to be back on the course and I think the other teams and coaches were excited to see St. Kate's out there.  I saw some things that everyone can improve upon in the next few weeks and I think having this first tournament out of the way will boost the teams confidence."

First-year Ellen Rager led the Wildcat golfers, shooting an 87 in the first round and following it up with a 96 on Sunday.  Right behind Rager was Miranda McKeeth, who shot a first round 93 and second round 95.
