Ten student-athletes from St. Kate's recently completed a weekend long leadership retreat. Along with fellow student-athletes from around the MIAC, the Wildcats learned new ways to develop their own leadership skills, improve team chemistry and brought back ideas and strategies to continue the evolution of the entire student-athlete expereience at St. Kate's.
The Wildcats involved included Megan Buysse (tennis), Kayla Clafton (hockey), Erin Coughlin (CC/track),
Lauren Kranig (swimming/diving), Kristen Lee (basketball), Stephanie Meschke (volleyball/track), Kristina Poss (CC/track), Sarah Vrudny (swim & WSAAC president), Liesl Wolf (soccer). Head swimming and diving coach
Nicole Hempler accompanied the group as one of the facilitator's for the event.
The student-athletes attended a weekend full of seminars, speakers and activities under the prevailing theme of "Discovering Leadership." In addition to extensive leadership training, the attendees also explored topics such as mental focus and preparation, motivation and goal setting, coaching strategies, sportsmanship, nutrition and injury prevention. There were also team-building and recreational activities, and the two nights ended with a DJ and a bonfire.
More information about the weekend can be found on the MIAC website.
