Michaela Michaelson
The Wildcat seniors stepped up and stole the show Friday night at Ridder Arena. The first period, although scoreless had scoring opportunities by both squads that came up empty. The goalie play on both sides was stellar.

Meghan Lange started of the scoring at 5:49 in the second period on assist from Katie Jirik. Both teams had numerous opportunities to score, but St. Thomas would tally the next goal at the 15:16 mark on a power play goal by Justina DeBruzzi. The second period would end with the score knotted at 1 apiece.

The score would remain tied until 11:07 when SCU senior Michaela Michaelson got the puck at the blue line, knifed through 3 defenders and scored an unassisted, game winning, highlight-reel goal, stick-side on the St. Thomas goalie.

The St. Kate's defense was tested late as they had to endure 2 minute penalties at 13:28 and 14:14, putting them 2 skaters down for over a minute and a half. The Tommies were unable to score and the clock ran out with the final tally, SCU 2-UST 1.

SCU goalie, Mel Gerten finished the night with 20 saves and one goal against. Michaelson won 14 of 15 face offs in the game to cap a memorable night for the Wildcats.

Congrats to all the seniors on a great night and thank you for all you've done for St. Kate's Hockey.
