The Wildcats found themselves trying to come from behind once again on Sunday, and once again, they fell short.
SCU was first to score when
Michaela Michaelson netted a laser from the blue line at 3:31 in the opening period. Unfortunately, Concordia would tie it 27 seconds later when Jenna Westerham scored the first of her four goals on the day. The first period would end with the Cobbers leading 2-1.
The second period was the most damaging for the Wildcats as they allowed two power play goals and one short-handed goal. SCU was not totally out of it, netting two of their own in the period, both at even strength.
The third remained scoreless until the 17:59 mark when Michaelson scored again on a fantastic move beating the CC goalie glove-side and squeezing in next to the post.
With 1:30 left on the clock the Wildcats pulled their goalie, just as they had Saturday night, to add an attacker in hopes of knotting it up again. Again, just like the night before, Concordia stole the puck in St. Kate's territory and scored on an empty net at 19:12. The last goal came 26 seconds later on another empty-netter by CC's Abby Taffe.
The Wildcats are back on the ice Friday night when they host St. Thomas at Ridder arena at 7:00 p.m.
