The Wildcats fell behind in the first period and couldn't gain any ground in a 7-3 loss in River Falls Sunday.  SCU fought off three 2-minute penalties prior to giving up the first goal at even strength at 11:36 in the first.  The Falcons would score just over a minute later to gain a two point lead.

At 17:22 in the first, Megan Boehmer found the net on assist from Katie Lawler and Rachael Gasperetti.  UWRF would score a minute later to finish the period up 3-1.

St. Kate's began to close the gap early in the second period on a power play goal by Becky Clifton.  Unfortunately, River Falls would score the next two to go up 5-2. Each team would add one more in the second period finishing 6-3.

UW River Falls would score the only goal in the third and final period.  The final tally being 7-3 Falcons.

"When we look back at this game in a few months, hopefully it was a turning point in our season. Yes, we lost the game to a very good team, but we learned a lot about ourselves," said coach Marshall after the game. "We gave them some easy goals in the first 40 minutes. Then we played some really good hockey in the third to stay with them. We now have a good idea of what it's going to take over the next 70 days and we'll be ready in January."

The Wildcats have a few weeks before their next competition on New Year's Day against Colby College in Burlington Vermont at 7:00 p.m.
