The St. Kate's basketball team lost to Gustavus 83-71 in St. Peter. Check back later for more complete details. With the loss the Wildcats fall to 6-9 in the conference and 7-11 overall.
An inconsistent first half did the Wildcats in. After falling behind 10-0, they fought back into the game. A
Molly Peterson layup made it 14-12 Gusties, unfortunately that was as close as the Wildcats would get all night. After some missed shots and costly turnovers, SCU found themselves down 53-29 at the break.
The Wildcats outscored the Gusties 42-30 in the second half, but it was not enough to over come the first half deficit.
Laura Kalbfell led the Wildcats with 20 points.
Sonja Ellingson and
Megan Zillmer also reached double digits with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
St. Kate's hosts Bethel on Monday at 7:30, in what may prove to be a very critical contest for the final MIAC playoff spot.
