Hockey defeats Gustavus 2-1
The St. Kate's hockey team defeated #8 ranked Gustavus 2-1 in St. Peter. With the win the Wildcats improve to 11-3 overall and 7-2 in the MIAC.
After a scoreless first period the teams exchanged goals in the second period. At the 1:36 mark first-year Ashely Grell scored an unassisted goal to put the WIldcats up 1-0.

Mel Gerten turned away a number of Gustavus scoring opportunities before the Gusties finally tied the score at the 16:31 mark of the second.
Reigning MIAC athlete of the week
Cassie Rooney continued her outstanding play, she scored the game winner at the 7:12 mark in the third.
From there the WIldcats defense and Gerten kept the Gusties off the scoreboard and secured the 2-1 win. Gerten ended the game with 32 saves.
The two teams face-off again Saturday afternoon at 12:00 pm at Ridder Arena.
