Cassie Rooney named MIAC Athlete of the Week
St. Catherine University sophomore forward Cassie Rooney has been named MIAC Women's Hockey Athlete of the Week for her performance this past weekend. Rooney had four points as St. Kate's split with St. Olaf over the weekend in a match-up of two of the top teams in the MIAC.
In Sunday's 3-2 win, Rooney had a hand in all three goals. She scored the first two goals of the game, and then assisted on the game winner midway through the third period. Saturday, she picked up an assist in the Wildcats 5-2 loss to the Oles as the teams split for the weekend.
Rooney is now tenth in the MIAC with 13 points (5 goals, 8 assists) on the season.
