Tennis competes well at ITA tournament
This past weekend's ITA Midwest Regional Championships were a very successful conclusion to the St. Kate's tennis team's fall calendar.
Kendra Ackland and Michaela Burroughs had great battles in singles competition losing close matches to seeded players. Then together they made a run to the semi-finals in the ITA doubles consolation. The duo defeated the top doubles teams from Lawrence and Concordia along the way.
Jenna Olson and Martha Ginder won their first round of doubles play against Concordia, but then fell to a tough team from UW-LaCrosse. Both Olson and Ginder made it a few rounds into the ITA and Midwest Singles Consolation before falling to top players from St. Olaf and St. Ben's.
Danielle Munsterman and Kalyn Schroeder competed well in doubles, improving throughout the first tournament of their Wildcat tennis careers. Munsterman and Schroeder also picked up wins in singles competition over opponents from St. Ben's and St. Olaf.
Coach Hageseth noted that "everyone competed hard and at a high level throughout the tournament. It was nice to see the stuff we have been working on in practice already being implemented by the players and having an impact during matches."
