Swimming competes in Falcon Invitational
The St. Kate’s swimming and diving team wrapped up day one of the Falcon Invitational, held at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center, in fine fashion. Nearly every returner swam faster than they did at this point last year, which was a season that saw eight school records set. Along with showing improvement from last year, the Wildcats turned in a host of season best swims and continued to increase the number of women meeting the MIAC Championships qualifying standards.
Sophomore Bridget Perkins turned in the highest finish for the team with a fourth place showing in the 100 Fly. Her time of 1:01.16 in the prelims is the best 100 Fly time recorded in the MIAC so far this season. Perkins also had a season best time in the 50 Free (25.63).
Sarah Vrudny and Allison Witt tested themselves with four tough swims in a very short time. Their endurance work showed great promise for the rest of the season. They both swam strong legs on the 200 Free Relay, 400 Medley Relay. Both also did the 200 IM, placing seventh and eighth. Vrudny also added in solid showing in the 200 Free, and Witt's day included the 100 Breast, to round out their busy day one schedule.
With her teammates competing in the swimming events at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center, Sarah Moody was involved in the Diving competition being held at Macalester College. She continued to improve aspects of her routine and finished fourth in the 3-meter diving.
The Wildcat swimmers return to the U of M pool for day two starting at 10am Saturday, while Moody competes in the 1-meter diving at Macalester.
