Swimmers dominate at Hamline Invite
The St. Kate’s swimming and diving team won the Hamline Invite in convincing fashion. The Wildcats finished first in 11 of the 13 events contested at the meet.
The Wildcats first two meets of the season were low key events that did not include diving competition, but in her opening meet of the season,
Sarah Moody quickly showed how valuable she is to the team. Moody started the winning streak for SCU as she took first in the first event of the meet, 1-meter diving.
When Moody returned to the diving well and took top honors in the 3-meter diving event she joined teammate
Bridget Perkins as the only double event winners at the meet. Perkins took the top spot on the podium in the 50 free and 100 yard fly.
Other event winners for the Wildcats included
Sarah Vrudny in the 200 Free,
Christina Paetzel in the 1000 Free,
Steffanie Jurusik in the 100 back,
Melanie Maas in the 500 Free, and
Allison Witt in the 100 Breast. St. Kate’s also finished first in the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay in dominating fashion, winning both events by approximately ten seconds.
The Wildcats return to the pool on November 10 at the Hour of Power Invite to raise money for cancer research.
