After mother nature cooperated and finished melting yesterday's snow off the pitch, the Wildcats soccer team squared off with the Blazers from St. Ben's at St. Kate's field. Unfortunately the home field was not an advantage as the Wildcats were unable to convert on a few of their scoring chances and fell 2-0 to the Blazers.
After a scoreless first half, St. Ben's grabbed a 1-0 lead just :21 seconds into the second half. Ten minutes later they struck again and led 2-0 with just over thirty minutes left to play in the game.
The Wildcats continued to pressure the Blazers for the duration of the game, firing five of their eight shots on goal in the second half. Unfortunately they were unable to convert any of their opportunities into points and left with a 2-0 loss.
St. Kate's falls to 4-6-3 overall on the season and 1-5-2 in MIAC play. The Blazers are now 6-5-1 and 4-3 in conference play.
The Wildcats return to action on Sunday October 18 when they travel to Wisconsin to face UW-Stout at 4pm.
