Notes from our Yoga Instructor -

Welcome to your Kripalu Yoga Class!
I am delighted to guide you through a yoga class at St. Kate's. Now more than ever, we need to take time out of our lives to nourish our heart, body, and mind. I look forward to "seeing" you in class. The following suggestions will help prepare you for your on-line yoga class so that you can derive the maximum benefit from your experience. Know that this class is open to all levels; if this is your first yoga class, GREAT and welcome!
  • *A yoga mat is preferred but if you do not have one, practicing on your carpet or hardwood floor is fine. Practice in bare feet so that you do not slip on the carpet/towel.
  • *A yoga block or something of that height will be helpful for balance postures. A firm cushion (or block) to sit on will be used for seated positions. A yoga strap (or long belt) will be helpful as well. A blanket for Shavansa, our last rest pose will be awesome.
  • *Leave your cell phone behind...or on "silence"; give yourself the gift of unplugging for these precious minutes you have carved out for you.
  • *It's best to do yoga on an empty stomach. Juice or water before class is fine.
  • *Before class begins, make sure you have time to relax and do some gentle stretches. Leave your worldly cares and troubles outside the door. Picture yourself entering an environment of peace and relaxation and allow yourself to enter into the experience of being in the "here and now." Create a calm environment for your yoga practice; using a diffuser, candles, soft lighting can help and, make sure you do not get interrupted.
  • *"Kripalu" is a linage of yoga; the word Kripalu means "compassion" which infers listening to your body, knowing what your body needs and respecting where your body is on the day you practice.
Let me know if you have any questions before class or if you have any special needs that we can address prior to class. (gratefulheartyogaern@gmail.com)
