MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - St. Catherine tennis swept non-conference opponent University of Minnesota-Morris 9-0 on Friday evening at Baseline Tennis Center. The Wildcats' are off to a great start this spring season with an overall record of 4-2.
In doubles play, juniors
Bri Dorr and
Aubrey Eckstrom played in the No. 1 spot winning their match 8-1. The pair of juniors are 3-2 this season as doubles partners dropping matches to St. Thomas and Carleton earlier this season.
In the No. 2 doubles match, juniors
Alisha Wiedmeier and
Maddy Knoll improved their doubles record to 2-1 overall this season with the 8-3 match win against the Cougars.
The final doubles match of the evening was first-year
Reilee Schepper and sophomore
Ella Graham topping the Cougars' No. 3 doubles team 8-0.
In singles competition, Dorr played in the No. 1 spot winning the first set 6-0 and the second 6-4. Dorr is now 3-3 this season in the No. 1 spot. Dorr's doubles partner, Eckstrom played the No. 3 singles match for a perfect 6-0, 6-0 sweep.
In the No. 2 singles match, Wiedmeier went 6-1 and 6-0 to improve her singles record to 4-2 this season. Wiedmeier's doubles partner, Knoll played in the No. 4 singles match for the 6-0, 6-0 win.
In the final two singles matches of the evening, Graham played in the No. 5 spot while senior
Ruth Rike played in the No. 6 spot, as both won their matches 6-0,6-0.
The Wildcats' match originally scheduled for Saturday, March 9 against Hamline has been reschedule to April 13 due to inclement weather expected in the Twin Cities. The location of that match has also changed to be played at Hamline University.
