Moody's National Qualifier Headlines Highest Team Finish in 17 years

Sarah Moody
The St. Kate's swimming and diving team wrapped up the final day of competition at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center by crowning an MIAC Individual event champion and holding onto their sixth place position in the team standings. It was the Wildcats highest finish since the 1992-93 season.

Under the guidance of Wildcats diving coach Jennifer Cotton, sophomore Sarah Moody became the Wildcats first individual MIAC event champion since 1991-92 season. Moody took top-honors in the one-meter diving event with a school record, and NCAA Qualifying performance of 407.10 points.

Despite Moody's victory, Concordia threatened to overtake SCU as they placed three divers in the top six. That is when the Wildcats swimmers responded to give the team their highest place finish in over 15 years.

Top finishers on the final day of competition for St. Kate's included
- Steffanie Jurusik placing fifth and lowering her own school record in the 200 Back with a time of 2:09.60. - Teammate Mary Walters joined Jurusik in picking up critical points for the team in that event, as she finished 12th (2:13.87).
- Sarah Vrudny (2:30.40) and Alli Witt (2:31.09) placed 9th and 10th in the 200 Breast.
- Vrudny, Jurusik, and Witt joined with Bridget Perkins to finish fifth in the 400 Free Relay. Their time of 3:36.58 was yet another school record for the Wildcats.

While the Wildcats season has concluded, Sarah Moody will continue her preparations for the NCAA National Championships which are being held March 17-20 back at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
