The St. Kate’s basketball team lost their final regular season game 67-56 to host Macalester on Saturday afternoon. Despite the loss, the Wildcats earned a spot in the MIAC Playoffs, which will take place February 22nd through the 27th.

St. Kate’s started slow in the first half, with foul trouble blocking the way to offensive consistency.  Starting the second half down by 16, the Wildcats slowly fought their way back into the game. After Molly Peterson made three consecutive jump shots, Laura Kalbfell put in two points of her own to close the Wildcats within 4 points of the Scots with 2:19 left in the game. Unfortunately, that was as close as the Wildcats would get, as they were forced to foul as time ran short and Macalester converted their free throws.

Peterson led the Wildcats with 16 points, followed by Kalbfell with 11. Megan Zillmer and Amy Battey each scored 9 points.

The Wildcats’ record now stands at 11-14 on the season, 10-12 in the MIAC.

With the #6 seed in the MIAC playoffs, St. Kate’s will play at #3 Concordia on Monday, February 22nd at 7:30 pm.
