Wildcats Come Up Short Versus Macalester
The St. Kate’s basketball team lost to Macalester 83-65 Monday night at Butler Center.The loss brings the Wildcats record to 5-6 in the MIAC, 6-8 overall.
In the first half, the Wildcats traded the lead with the Scots until there was two minutes left in the half. That is when Macalester took a 36-30 lead after stringing together a few field goals.
Jenna Olson made a layup for the Wildcats to close the score to 36-32 as time expired in the first half.
St. Kate’s was able to close the deficit to two points in the second half, but the Scots made a few three-pointers on key possessions to take control of the game. From there the Scots strong rebounding helped them build a lead that was too big for the Wildcats to overcome.
Laura Kalbfell led the Wildcats with 29 points and 3 blocks. She was followed by Molly Peterson with 12 points and 2 blocks.
The Wildcats travel to St. Olaf on Wednesday, January 20th, and return home to host Augsburg on Saturday, January, 23rd at 3:00 p.m. at Butler Center. The game versus Augsburg will be Parent Appreciation Day.
