On a windy and chilly fall afternoon Great Sieve became the highest placing finisher in St. Kate's cross country history. Competing in a field of 229 runners, Sieve ran to an impressive fourth place finish and earned her first MIAC All-Conference honors in cross country. The finish also represented a steady progression of four years from the hard working senior. Sieve's MIAC finishes from her freshman to her senior year are 150th, 63rd, 33rd and now 4th.
With Sieve running up-front and a tight pack of runners in the middle of the field, the Wildcats finished tenth as a team with 276 points. The team's 276 points represent the Wildcats best score since 2004, and second best score in the past 11 years. Their tenth place finish was also one step up from last year and tied their best team finish in the past 11 years.
The strong pack of Wildcats that fought through the soggy course conditions to improve the team's placing was led by
Tamar Billiet. She steadily moved up during the race to finish 64th, just ahead of teammates
Jessica Rogers (66th) and
Renee Crepeau(67th).
Heidi Sande battled hard through an illness to round out the scoring for the Wildcats with a 75th place finish.
Emily Seidl and
Molly Muller placed 76th and 77th and represented the WIldcats sixth and seventh runners.
Carleton College won the meet with 65 points, Marie Borner from Bethel University finished first overall with a time of 21:43.
