The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced the 2008 MIAC Softball Awards today. Three Wildcats were honored for their work throughout the 2008 season.
Jessica Kniefel was one of just three first year players to be named to the MIAC All-Conference team. The infielder from Owatonna, Minn. finished her rookie campaign with a league leading 25 stolen bases. Her four stolen base performance against La Sierra University was also tops in the MIAC. Kniefel finished the season with 31 runs scored and 41 hits, both Wildcat highs.
Fellow infielder and first year player Lisa Jacobs was named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention team. Jacobs, from Eagle Lake, Minn. finished her first season with the most RBI’s in one game with seven. In addition, she finished with a team leading .402 batting average and nine doubles.
Beth Freier was the Wildcats' representative on the MIAC All-Sportsmanship team. The sophomore from St. Paul, Minn. finished with a .286 batting average and 21 runs scored. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.
